
Shahram Ghasemian
Shahram Ghasemian assumed the role of NuScale Power’s Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary in 2025. In this role, Mr. Ghasemian is responsible for leading the company’s legal strategy, corporate governance, compliance oversight, and regulatory engagement in support of NuScale’s long-term business objectives.
With over two decades of legal and regulatory experience in the energy sector, Mr. Ghasemian has deep expertise in nuclear policy, compliance, and commercial operations. Before joining NuScale, he served as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary at Centrus Energy Corp., a company focused on nuclear fuel and technology that supports the clean energy transition.
Prior to his leadership at Centrus, Mr. Ghasemian held senior positions within the federal government from 2006 to 2020 at the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, including serving as acting Branch Chief. In these roles, he led teams responsible for managing nuclear reactor licensing, regulatory enforcement, and policy development.
He also worked as a Senior Legislative Fellow on Capitol Hill for a U.S. Senator, where he advised on nuclear energy. Mr. Ghasemian started his career in the nuclear energy sector in 1997 with Centrus’ predecessor, holding legal positions of increasing responsibility and handling litigation, employment, and compliance matters, as well as complex nuclear fuel sales and related agreements.
Mr. Ghasemian holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He is dedicated to advancing safe, clean and innovative energy solutions, as well as strong regulatory frameworks that support global sustainability goals.
