We have brought together a group of individuals who believe we can change the world by advancing technology and generating clean energy that can improve the quality of life for all humankind.
The NuScale Technical Advisory Board (TAB) is comprised of nationally recognized technical experts in nuclear power plant design, operations, maintenance, regulations and safety. The primary objectives of the NuScale TAB are to: (1) review the NuScale plant design and operational strategies to identify and prioritize significant technology risks that should be addressed, (2) review and inform NuScale efforts to identify and mitigate risks, and (3) advise NuScale on approaches for improving our technology risk mitigation plans and processes.
Current Technical Advisory Board members are:
Luis A. Reyes
Former Executive Director of Operations at the NRC; as the Commission’s chief operating officer, Mr. Reyes managed the agency’s day-to-day operations, overseeing 3,400 full-time employees and an annual budget of over $900,000,000.
Eugene S. Grecheck
Principal of Grecheck Consulting, LLC; Mr. Grecheck provides management and technical consulting to the nuclear industry, with emphasis on performance improvement, regulatory issues, and developing and integrating emerging technologies. He retired from Dominion Nuclear in late 2013, following more than 38 years with the company. Most recently, he served as president of the American Nuclear Society.
Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, former Commissioner of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and former member of the NRC Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards. Internationally recognized for his contributions to the science of risk assessment for complex systems.
Peter B. Lyons
Dr. Peter B. Lyons retired from the Department of Energy on June 30, 2015. He was confirmed as Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy on April 14, 2011 after serving as Acting Assistant Secretary since November 2010. Prior to joining DOE, Dr. Lyons was sworn in as a Commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on January 25, 2005 and served until his term ended on June 30, 2009. He now consults on several corporate and laboratory boards, as well as assisting several international groups.
Retired VP-Nuclear Propulsion Division and Chief Nuclear Engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding. Directed over 2000 employees responsible for engineering, startup and commissioning of naval nuclear propulsion plants. Also responsible for several aspects of US Naval vessel construction, overhaul and refueling.
Retired Admiral for the U.S. Navy. He served as Commander of Naval Submarine Forces, Commander of Submarine Force for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Commander of Allied Submarine Command, and Commander of Task Forces 84 and 144 in Norfolk, Va. Shore assignments include the Pacific Fleet Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board and the staff of the Director for Naval Nuclear Propulsion. Most recently, he assumed duties as Director for, Naval Nuclear Propulsion.
