On April 29, 2019, NuScale Power and Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Ltd. (Doosan) announced a strategic cooperation to support deployment of the NuScale Power Module™ (NPM) worldwide. Doosan is a pre-eminent, world-renowned nuclear pressure vessel manufacturer with substantial experience. It is joining the larger U.S.-led manufacturing team, which includes Sargent & Lundy, to build a portion of the most critical and complex NPM sub assemblies for America’s first NuScale 12-module plant to be sited in Idaho by our first customer, the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS). The plant is expected to be operational by mid-2029, with the remaining 11 modules to come online for full plant operation by 2030.

This strategic cooperation with Doosan will strengthen NuScale’s supply chain and accelerate our ability to deliver advanced nuclear technology quickly to future customers around the world.

“The strategic cooperation between NuScale and Doosan will be a foundation for our win-win collaboration not only in the US but also in the global nuclear markets,” said Mr. Kiyong Na, CEO of Doosan’s Nuclear Business Group. “It will give a boost to the U.S. nuclear industries and Korean nuclear industries, and also contribute to reduction of CO2 worldwide.”

NuScale is delighted to have Doosan join us in our work to deliver the U.S.’s first small modular reactor power plant in just a few years from now.
